Brit pop science rag all wet about Biologic Institute
In a recent edition (May 14, 2008) Britain's New Scientist announces that the ID-friendly Biologic Institute is a "God Lab."
One friend wrote to say,

These guys are running scared. "ID does no research" so ID is not science "ID is doing research" so ID is not science.
If ID is devoid of content, why can they not stop from giving ID free press?

Well, they won't stop. Because they need to keep reminding themselves, I suppose. Who else is listening? Another friend chimes in:

People don't talk about stuff that doesn't matter. It seems that everywhere I turn on the university campus the subject of origins and design comes up eventually. If the New Scientist wasn't concerned about these kind of developments, they wouldn't write a piece about it. They hope to ridicule ID research by referring to Biologic as the "God lab" in quotations. What they won't do is give serious consideration to their efforts. They can't afford to. So...instead of dealing with the evidence on its merits, they hope to deflect public attention away from honest efforts to assess what actually is going on in biology.

I wrote back to my friend to say: To get a handle on what's going on, you have to begin by writing off non-performing sources of information and focusing on high-performing ones. Here's an example:

Here’s how I first realized the ID issue was a keeper:
Back in 2001-2002, I noticed a pattern while trolling the Net. Every six months someone would say ID was dead. Then every three months. Then every thirty days. Then every week.
Yes, the Internet was growing, but t his was not a function only of the growth of the ‘Net, it was happening faster than that, AND the same pattern prevailed in print media.
Now when an issue really IS dying, the pattern goes in the opposite direction. So I drew the logical conclusion.
I do not track the content of what people are saying but where they are saying it and how often.

Biologic Institute's motto: The more we learn about the organization of life, the more clearly it reveals design.
Now there's something for the pop science rags to wring themselves about.
