• Philosophical Implication of Intelligent Design

    WinglesS

I think that there's a philosophical implication if any form of "God"-guided or top-down evolution is true, because if naturalistic evolution is impossible, and the progressive entropy of genetic information an inevitable reality:

    1. We should see progresively more cancers and other genetic ailments with time, since humans are adversely against "natually selecting" themselves. (medicine and vaccination)

    2. Even if we natually selected ourselves in some fashion, (eugenics) our invitable degeneration and death is an ultimate inevitabilty as limit of time -> infinity.

    3. Not only humans, but the loss of any species of animal today will be permanent.

This can be avoided if we knew how to genetically engineer ourselves, however at present it poses some problems to an atheist, because at present, it would imply that we have no future without the intevention of this intelligent entity. Perhaps some people have seen this. It's a hard truth to accept if true. Any thoughts on this?

    These are all good

These are all good questions. I'm no expert in these matters, but this is what I think:

    1. I agree, and this is confirmed by biblical evidence. The first men and women lived extrordinaraly long lives compared to our modest life expectancy.

    2. Dont know

    3. I agree, but if the world had to have a beginning, then perhaps it has to end as well? I suspect that a good underatanding of ID will allow us to predict exactly when the world will end.

Please do not hold me to this, but I see ID as a sort of uniersal principle of the universe. If the desginer made all life on earth then perhaps he made the stars and the universe? Perhaps it is all part of his plan, and this is why we should study it; not assume it is all random!
